Environmental Litigation
Working with large industrial operators, Dowd Bennett counsels clients on all aspects of environmental disputes — including both government enforcement actions and private citizen litigation — at the state and federal level. We also conduct internal environmental investigations and advise clients who are the targets of investigations instigated by the Environmental Protection Agency, other federal agencies and state environmental agencies.
Our lawyers represent corporations and individuals, including plant managers and business owners, that federal and state authorities suspect of or have already charged with wrongdoing. Clients also look to us for guidance with civil environmental matters, including disputes over responsibility for the cleanup of contaminated properties, and commercial environmental litigation between former business partners.
Additionally, we vigorously defend companies that are the target of environmental class actions. One such recent representation involved a class action brought by homeowners in a town alleged to have been affected by a gasoline plume on the water table.
