Summary judgment obtained for major league baseball player

On May 10, 2019, a District Court in the Southern District of Illinois entered an order granting summary judgment and dismissing all claims against a major league baseball player represented by Dowd Bennett in connection with a civil lawsuit filed by a participant in an altercation in a bar seeking damages for alleged assault, battery, and civil conspiracy.  The dismissal of the case against the player was covered by the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, which cited the Court’s observation that the case involved a “plain old bar fight” and that there was “zero evidence” of a conspiracy.  Gabe Gore and Arsenio Mims were the Dowd Bennett attorneys on the case.
