In Memoriam: Dowd Bennett Partner Jennifer Aspinall, 1972 – 2016
Our friend and colleague Jennifer Aspinall passed away peacefully on the evening of Friday, October 28, 2016, following a valiantly fought one-year battle with cancer, during which she lived her life in the same way that she had before — with humor, kindness, and grit. Her love and loyalty were fierce and her laughter infectious. She was beautiful, compassionate, and gracious in all things. Those around her reveled in her sharp wit and relied upon her wisdom and counsel. Jen understood that we should not count the days, but instead make the days count. She lived her life accordingly, embracing life fully and deeply.
Jen was born in 1972 in Cincinnati, Ohio. She attended Brigham Young University and in 1992 married Steve, with whom she shared the rest of her life. She graduated Order of the Coif from Washington University School of Law in 2003. She practiced at Bryan Cave LLP for five rewarding years, during which time she gave birth to her daughter Brooke, who instantly became the center of her universe. In 2009, she began practicing at Dowd Bennett LLP, where she became a partner in the Firm and found a second family. She was widely respected as a brilliant and tenacious counselor and was a treasured colleague.
Jen was a gifted photographer, and captured moments that showed you exactly how she felt about the world. She saw beauty in everyday life and through her photographs she showed others how to see their own beauty. Tellingly, Jen never tired of photographing her family. Steve and Brooke were her primary devotion and love and she rightly counted them as the greatest of her life’s many successes. Jen’s spirit lives on in them as well as in her parents Ken and Lillian Prickett; her brother Wesley Prickett (Lynn); her sister Robin Skiles (Mike); an extended family; and, friends from every walk of life.
In memory of Jennifer Aspinall.
