St. Louis, MO—Dowd Bennett LLP is proud to announce that Caitlin E. O’Connell was elected equity partner in December, 2019. Caitlin specializes in commercial and appellate litigation. In her appellate practice, she has prepared briefs in the U.S. Supreme Court, the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Seventh, Eighth, and Eleventh Circuits, and Missouri appellate courts on a range of matters including insurance disputes, the Lanham Act, the False Claims Act, and common law claims. In the trial process, her work includes handling critical motions as well as managing discovery in complex litigation.
Before joining Dowd Bennett, Caitlin was a litigation associate at an international law firm where she represented a large financial institution in connection with internal, congressional and executive agency inquiries. She was also a Madison Fellow at Americans United for Separation of Church and State, focusing on appellate matters. Caitlin served as a law clerk to the Honorable Julia Smith Gibbons of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit before entering private practice. She received her J.D., magna cum laude, Order of the Coif, from Washington University School of Law and her B.A., cum laude, from Georgetown University.
