Dowd Bennett honored at inaugural Corporate Philanthropy Awards breakfast
The St. Louis Business Journal hosted it’s first Corporate Philanthropy Awards earlier this morning at The Sheldon Concert Hall and Art Galleries, at which its research of the top corporate donors in the greater St. Louis region was unveiled, with awards presented to the leading givers in three categories – large, medium and small – based on number of employees. Dowd Bennett received the award in the category of Small Companies (companies with fewer than 100 employees), with more than $376,000 donated to local organizations.
Founding partners Jim Bennett and Ed Dowd have been committed to giving back to the community since the beginning of Dowd Bennett LLP. “A lot of people who work here are very active in the community, and when one of them comes to us and says they are raising money, we support them.” -Ed Dowd. In addition to the monetary support of the organizations, the firm presents volunteer opportunities throughout the year and encourages firm-wide participation. For example, the firm signs up to prepare meals for the families at one of the three local Ronald McDonald Houses, and to sort and pack food at the St. Louis Area Foodbank to be distributed across Missouri and Illinois.
