Dowd Bennett Partner Sheena Hamilton Named New St. Louis City Counselor
On September 16, St. Louis City Mayor Tishaura O. Jones appointed Dowd Bennett Partner Sheena Hamilton as St. Louis City Counselor, the chief attorney for the City of St. Louis. “Sheena Hamilton will be the first Black woman to serve the people of St. Louis as City Counselor,” said Mayor Jones. “I am excited to bring on another talented professional and add her experience in private practice, corporate law departments, and government to this administration.”
Hamilton said, “I feel blessed and grateful to have worked alongside and learned from everyone at Dowd Bennett. I appreciate Ed and Jim for the opportunity to serve the most elite clients in any industry with creativity, pragmatic strategy, and the freedom to share my voice/perspective openly for the last six and a half years.”
Hamilton leaves a thriving law practice at Dowd Bennett where she concentrates on employment and complex commercial litigation along with corporate internal investigations. “Sheena Hamilton is a skilled attorney and great person who has brought much to our firm with her expertise, drive and commitment,” partner Ed Dowd said. “These qualities will serve her well as she becomes City Counselor to the City of St. Louis where she will oversee 40 attorneys and 20 staff. We congratulate Sheena and wish her well as she takes on this very important public service position.”
