Dowd Bennett volunteers facilitate Junior Achievement course at Yeatman Middle School
Inspired by Dowd Bennett’s strong commitment to civic engagement, several Dowd Bennett attorneys and staff members readily volunteered when Ami Boehlje, St. Louis City Schools Program Manager for Junior Achievement of Greater St. Louis, Inc., requested a partnership for Ms. Marie Thompson’s 2nd period 7th graders at Yeatman-Liddell College Preparatory Middle School. Attorneys Lisa Hoppenjans, Arsenio Mims and Derick Dailey, along with staff Nancy Johnston and Rebecca Rentchler, facilitated the six-session “It’s My Future” Junior Achievement program, which focuses on career exploration by discussing branding, career options, and planning for future education.
The team thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to connect with the twenty-eight 7th graders and Ms. Thompson. Discussions were often lively, and educational for both the students and Dowd Bennett volunteers. The volunteers would like to thank Ms. Thompson for her willingness to partner with us and for her commitment to our young people. Additional appreciation also is extended to Ami Boehlje and the Junior Achievement organization for allowing us this incredible opportunity to serve the St. Louis community.
This budding partnership is continuing to evolve. The firm has been invited to attend the Yeatman-Liddell College Preparatory Middle School’s 11th Annual Career Fair on May 9th. Arsenio Mims will be attending, and he is honored to be participating, stating that “the students are inquisitive, and simply a joy to be around!”
