Sheena Hamilton Elected to American Bar Association Board of Governors

On August 12, 2017, Sheena R. Hamilton was elected to the American Bar Association Board of Governors.  Founded in 1878, the ABA has over 400,000 members.  The Association supports the legal profession with practical resources while improving the administration of justice, accrediting law schools, and establishing model ethical codes.  The 44-member Board of Governors oversees general operation of the Association, appoints the Association’s Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer, and formulates the Association’s budget.  Hamilton will serve as young lawyer member-at-large on the Board from 2018 to 2021.

Hamilton has a history of service to the ABA.  She served as a Section of Labor and Employment Law Fellow, Managing Editor of TYL Magazine, and two terms as Communications Director on the Young Lawyers’ Division Cabinet and Council.  She received two consecutive ABA Star of the Year Awards for “exemplary performance of duties in service to the public and the ABA.”

Hamilton’s practice at Dowd Bennett LLP concentrates on employment and complex commercial litigation and corporate internal investigations.  Primarily she defends employers in state and federal courts and before administrative agencies across the country.  Hamilton regularly speaks and writes on employment law, and she is passionate about the legal and St. Louis community.  She serves as a member of the executive board for the Women Lawyers Association of Greater St. Louis, one of the youngest members of the United Way of Greater St. Louis’ Board of Directors, and a member of the Regional Business Council’s Young Professionals Network’s Steering Committee.
